Welcome to our new website!
Carrie Allen
Welcome to the newly launched Meadowgate Nursery website and blog!
For those of you who are new to us, we’re a small and independent nursery based in the beautiful village of Sidlesham, just outside of Chichester, West Sussex. It is owned and run by David Allen, who is ably assisted by his black and white Collie Pepper and his daughter-in-law Carrie (I’m the blog writer too).
At Meadowgate we have over 140 varieties of ornamental grasses in stock. They’re all listed on the website but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re looking for something specific. So many of our customers come back time and time again and there’s nothing more rewarding for us than hearing people comment on the quality of our grasses and the personal service they receive. As I’m sure David would agree, it makes the hard work worthwhile.
If you’re local, you can find David at the Farmers’ Market in Chichester every other Friday. He’ll always have a varied selection of grasses with him but if you know you want something in advance then do get in touch and he will bring it along. You’ll also find us at all the major country shows, both locally and further afield, including Stansted Garden Show, the New Forest Show and the Chilli Festival at Westdean.
Now we’re happy to admit that we’re far better at cultivating our beautiful grasses than we are at blogging! This is a new area for us, but our aim is to keep you updated with the shows and events we’re attending throughout the year, to provide informative and interesting articles about our products and to hopefully keep you entertained with some of the more light-hearted aspects of running a nursery.
One thing we do need is your input – we’d love to hear about your gardens, what you’re growing in them and how we can assist to make them even more charming, particularly as the sun finally starts shining and we embark on summer. And if you have any specific ideas for articles then do let us know; these blogs are for you and we want you to keep reading.
We’re also more than happy to answer any questions that you have, either about our products, something specific you’re looking for or anything else grass-related. There will be a ‘comments section’ at the end of each post which you can use to keep in touch and we will always endeavour to reply as soon as possible. Please also send us your photos to publish, we really would love to see our products in your gardens.
In our next blog we’ll be featuring some of our new varieties this year so do come back!
